Coastal Craftsman

This project has been our best opportunity to date to help design and build a major remodel to transform an ordinary suburban ranch style home into something extraordinary.   The conception began when the neighbors in front of the property set up flagging on a proposed new development.  As soon as that happened the clients called me to bring in some exceptional talent.   I called in Samuel Pitnick Architects, K Interiors (Kristen Pena), and Seven Springs Studios (Simon Phillips) to help design a remarkable work of art.   We salvaged part of the existing foundation and part of the floor of the home, but the rest is all new.

It was a 9 month design process to design the home and procure permits, and another 24 months to build the home.  We closely reviewed each detail of this home to ensure the assembly would be stable and solid enough to last several generations.  As well, we worked closely with K Interiors to ensure each material selected in the project would pair well with one another.

The home is on the north side of Pebble Beach within walking distance of the MPCC Golf Club and the serene beaches of Spanish Bay and Bird Rock.

The home is composed of all natural materials.  There are no synthetics or artificial materials on this home, except for the putting green.  The exterior siding is thermally treated with hemlock fir and cedar.    Paving is limestone and the stone walls are quartzite.   The entry driveway is granite cobble stones.   The interior millwork is composed of solid cedar timbers and clear cedar planks.  The interior doors, casement, and cabinetry are composed of white oak.   All interior trim was custom designed by McNickle Construction and K Interiors.  All stone fabrication is composed of marble and granite.   You could say that this home has the deluxe package considering that all structural elements are clad with the finest finishes.

This home was an absolute pleasure to build especially considering the likeness of the clients and the professionalism of our design team.

We would be happy to build this home over and over again.
