Egg Farm

Egg Farm

We had the opportunity to restore the original 1923AD  Egg Farm House and rebuild the existing ADU from a 500sf unit to a 1200sf ADU with all the modern amenities regarding electrical, plumbing, HVAC, insulation and windows.    The interior design was performed by the owner, Mrs. Proskine and Lindsey Terzian interior designer.  The architectural work was performed by Samuel Pitnick Architects.

The construction renovation work performed on the main house included kitchen remodeling and replacement of the fireplace with custom built in cabinetry and a new dining banquette in the corner.   We also replaced all windows and the HVAC system of the home to improve thermal performance and make the home more cozy.

The ADU project was basically a new house, whereas we salvaged some of the original foundation, but built a new floor package and all new walls, & roof.  All finished on this building are new and of the finest quality.  We worked with Carmel Design Center and Carmel Stone Imports to select all stone, tile, flooring and cabinetry.

This property is very special,  it has some of the best well water in Carmel Valley which produces some of the best olives and agriculture in the area.  The new owners have been recognized for their award winning olive oil with the olives produced on this property.

We love the history of this farm as well, it formerly served as the number one egg vendor in Monterey County.   We actually helped relocate some of the original coops with a tractor and many straps to preserve the integrity of the original purpose of the site.

It was a rewarding experience to help renovate and build on this property considering the historical significance of the Egg Farm and how it served our community back in the 1920′-1930’s with farm fresh eggs.   It would be fortunate for us if we had more places like this in these times today considering the current egg shortage we face in 2025.   It’s amazing that the original home is 102 years old today, and still thriving and working well, even though they are no longer producing eggs.  It goes to show that when something is well built, it will last and serve several generations and many unique and beautiful functions.

Thanks

Ryan
